I’m so intrigued!! You’ve got me pondering many things now. Would love to hear more of your thoughts on why the scene after the race was a pivotal one. And I agree that N and E check all the trope boxes. Which makes this such a good and complex story. Can’t wait for part 2 of this.
Hey there. So that scene after the race I think was a Brigerton-esque "shocker" scene. That was supposed to show how deep the feelings were. I think the other scene that I'd be holding on to if I was Team Lucas was the one where they are chatting over a sleeping LJ. There was the most vulnerable sharing there that I remember and still some sweetness. I was just looking for scenes that would be hard to "walk back" or "explain away". I think S11 is the answer. It's longing looks and actions-- not just saying I want to hurry home to you and not leave you in the morning. But we've got porch scenes now early in the morning and late at night. They aren't just saying it, they are drawn to actually do it. Not sure if that makes sense. I'm guessing the next 3 seasons will have more of the blended family vibe doing life together n overlapping. I'm here for it all! Always love chatting with you. Want to hear what you think of the latest later.
Thank you! I always love your questions and insights on fb. We track! ha. What else are you wondering these days? I think it's going to be a lot these next 3 episodes. In a good way!
Excellent thoughts and enjoyable read. I keep thinking that M and M WILL be the wedding we know is planned, but after Amanda's interview and talks of a letter feel like her brother may be a reason they HALT the progress and not get married. I sure hope Nathan and Elizabeth tie the knot. Rosemarys "Take the Plunge" in EP 1 feels like a foreshadow to the end of the S. Elizabeth is spending this whole season finding out exactly what Nathan feels. So by episode 12 I am really hoping it's them.
Thank you! So glad. I need to listen to that interview. I wondered since they mentioned her brother if he would affect things. Good to know! I’m with you on that comment being possible foreshadowing. I’m working with a heartie friend on another blog related to this. Can’t wait to hear what you think. Still keeping open hands but it’s hard not to wonder…
I enjoy reading your posts as always! I can’t wait for Part 2. I think multiple tropes fit but Friends to Lovers seems to be the clearest to me. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. They have faced and overcame many obstacles to get where they are today.
I want Nathan and Elizabeth to get married as much as the next TN. However, I have my concerns for each couple. I mentioned it in my post titled “Season 11: The Fourth Quarter” but I feel like at this point a wedding would be rushed for both couples. (https://heartiethoughts.substack.com/p/season-11-the-fourth-quarter?r=2v8cij)
I don’t want to feel like N/E are rushed into a marriage. So far, they haven’t truly established where they are in their relationship or even discussed marriage. They are still doing a delicate dance around their feelings but starting to confront them more physically now. (Dance, hand holding, resting head on shoulder etc.)
With Mei and Mike it is equally as confusing but they are getting to know each other and have verbalized they are on the same page. Would it be so bad for them to marry and still date/learn about each other? I mean Rosemary and Lee both learned something new about the other well after marriage. (Lee’s long lost sibling or Rosemary’s mother.)
My fear is with 4 episodes to go a huge stories to wrap up things will be rushed. I know I trust these writers more than previous years, but I will not get my hopes up. If Nathan and Elizabeth marry it will be a pleasant surprise. But I think they are owed a wedding in the right way. Not rushed or crammed into the last 10 min or less of the finale. Mei and Mike don’t deserve it either.
OK-- I can't wait to look through your posts. My daughter's graduation tonight-- I can read and go to you to comment. I really think what you're saying here though is important. After all this time, we don't want it to be rushed. Neither deserve that. I do think that for these times and because Mike and Mei are a secondary story and romance (no offense intended) that they do know enough to get married if they wanted. But to your point, how do they pull that off and what's the rush? There's still a lot of different things we know are coming-- so it's not like this is the primary thing with Lucas, the resort and the case too. Like you, I do trust these writers. So I think they must have a plan. I just think this whole unexpected thing-- I just listened to 2 more interviews and everyone is saying watch until the end. You may think you know but you don't. So what would make our jaws drop and us gasp? That would still feel inevitable and satisfying. LIke you say-- not rushed. Thanks for chatting! Day made-- Cara
And yes we don’t want either one rushed. I would be fine with a semi-rushed Mike and Mei because I feel they have been setting the stage. Plus, like you said they are the secondary storyline. With Mike’s mother and Mei’s brother (based Amanda interview with SU) coming to town I don’t see why they wouldn’t get married. Frankly, when Nathan and Elizabeth get married I want Tom, Julie, maybe even her parents to be there. Especially Tom and Julie though. It’s not a need but it would be nice. We know they won’t be back or appear in the remainder of S11 so perhaps s12.
I wouldn’t be opposed to Mike and Mei getting married and then N/E getting engaged. Then N/E married earlier S12 so we get most of the season with the blended family scenes! That’s my pipeline wish.
What would make me gasp? If both couples got married!! A double wedding has never happened in HV!
